GIBSON 2006 THUNDERBIRD STUDIO 4 STRING BASS WITH CASE

MADE IN THE USA !

I am the original owner of this Gibson bass ( SN #010670334). The "Studio" models were produced by Gibson for just a few years. The differences between these models, and the R.I. or Standard Thunderbird IV basses: Only 2 color options were available: Black, or Red high gloss finish, and featuring a rounded edge body with a SET NECK, and a narrower profile peghead (which means that the neck is not as heavy dipping as on the Standard Thunderbird IV model).

Gibson also greatly improved bridge intonation issues known to afflict T-Birds (as well as EB type basses) by replacing the more familiar 3 point floating bridge with an "A" bridge model design~which is fully adjustable. The pickups & passive electronics remain the same as on the Standard IV model. I wanted to make this one stand out from all others, so I took it a step further, and replaced its hardware with Black finish by installing a set of 3 Barrel style metal knobs, a set of 4 Hipshot HB6C Ultralite with Clover button 3/8" tuners (to somewhat give the headstock a 1962 T-Bird look), and a Hipshot "A" style bridge (.750 spacing or standard as with the original bridge & also fully 3 way adjustable for intonation...both bridge & tuners are drop fit upgrades~therefore no drilling or alterations was required...all factory body holes aligned well with those on the Hipshot hardware). I now call it "Blackbird"!... isn't it a pretty cool looking axe now?

Although I've certainly "used" this bass, it's been very well cared for, and in very clean condition with hardly any dings/dents, and with very few minor or lite scuffs (some mild pick rash by the pickguard~no BB rash on the backside~ hard to show in the pics due to the high gloss black finish, and hard to see unless you position the bass at an angle against light & you can slightly notice a some of the original bridge's "footprint" on a few sides of the Hipshot bridge, since this one is a bit narrower than the factory bridge~but it's all minor & cosmetic). But no cracks anywhere on the body, neck or peghead. The neck is straight with no buzz on the fingerboard. The passive electronics are very quiet. The factory issued hard case is in excellent condition, with some minor scuffing to the tolex as well. All wood panels, latches/locks, and inside material in excellent conditon. Comes with all factory paperwork, AND I'm also including all of the original chrome hardware it came with (tuners and bridge plus all 3 plastic control knobs it came with). Also installed on the bass are 2 "Schaller" Black Strap Lock System (with Strap Endpins)~to protect the bass from falling from the strap (original strap buttons are also included as well).

BTW: A Thunderbird in every way, I've found it to be a bit more comfortable to play in some ways over the Standard IV reissue model. Weigh is: 8 LBS (per analog scale), Width @ the nut is: 1 & 5/8" .
